Arm lift
An arm lift (also known as brachioplasty) reshapes the under portion of the upper arm in order to remove excess skin or fat tissue, which may appear due to weight changes, low skin elasticity, aging or genetics. Often such condition of an upper arm is hard to correct even with the hardest exercise. The most effective way to beautify the contour of the upper arm or underarm, to provide arms a new esthetic appearance is surgical treatment.
Surgery
Brachioplasty is performed under general anesthesia and lasts for 2 hours. During arm lift surgery the excess of loose skin of the upper arm is diminished, underlying supportive tissue is tightened and reshaped with internal sutures, excess fat tissue excised from the area of the upper arm.
Surgery Risks
Arm lift as any other intervention may inflict certain reaction to anesthesia, temporary swelling, feeling of tension, postoperative pain, bruises. Very rarely there may appear bleeding, wound infection, scar hypertrophy.
After Surgery:
- It is recommended to spend 24 hours in in-patient department;
- Physical exercise should be limited for 2 weeks;
- Wearing of special compression gloves is advised for 2 months.
Results
The smoother, tighter arm contours appear almost immediately after the surgery. In the place of incision there will remain a small, thin scar. The results of arm lift surgery will be long-lasting due to your life-style, your ability to maintain a stable weight and general fitness.
