Treatment of Excessive Sweating
Hyperhidrosis is increased sweating, usually greater than necessary for normal thermoregulation. Hyperhidrosis may expose in different parts of the body, though most common areas of affection are palms, soles and armpits. Such excessive sweating evokes inconveniences, making them even more problematic in stressful situations.
Hyperhidrosis is effectively treated by botulinum toxin A injections. Botulinum toxin stops functioning of cell nerve endings influencing sweat glands and suppresses them for a half or even whole year. Botulinum may injected to soles, palms, armpits.
Procedure is absolutely safe and is performed on out-patient basis. Botulinum toxin is injected to the marked points of sweat gland. Duration of the treatment 15-20 min. Effect can be noticed in 1-3 days, and reaches its peak after 1-2 weeks after injections. It usually lasts 6 to 12 months and treatment should be repeated no earlier than after 6-8 months.
